Fixed - File attachments on a Mac

Posted on September 20, 2014

A while ago the browsers on Mac computers added additional security restrictions which made it impossible for RentHQ to open or upload any file on the local computer.  This meant you could not load attachments for example.

We have created a work-around for this security restriction.  This involves opening a new browser window outside of RentHQ, and uploading files through this other window.

This means you can now upload files on a mac again.  This includes adding attachments to tenants or properties etc, as well as uploading logo files and importing transactions files in OFX or QIF file format.

After uploading the attachment, because it is in a separate window, you will need to re-open the item the file is being attached to.  For example if you are adding an attachment to a tenant, you will need to close and re-open that tenant again to see the new attachment added.

For anyone who is not using a Mac, you wont notice any difference.

New Feature - Dont close tenants at end date

Posted on September 11, 2014

On the tenant details screen you can specify a tenancy end date.  Up until now, when that date is reached the tenant automatically went into a closed state.

Now there is an option to over-ride this default behaviour and allow the tenant to remain open even after their end date can passed.  This means the tenant will continue to accumulate rent owing.  If you choose this option, it is your responsibility to make sure you close the tenant when required.

This new option is found on the Functions/Setup/Options/Features tab.  The default setting is for tenants to continue to be closed at the end date.

New Feature - Block transaction deletion

Posted on September 9, 2014

A new option has been added to the Security Logins screen.  This option enables you to remove the ability to delete transactions on a per-login basis.  This options removes the delete button from the cashbook screen and the disbursement screen so neither of these transaction types can be deleted.

New Feature - Transactions by Number report

Posted on September 3, 2014

A new report has been created called 'Transactions by Number'.

Each transaction automatically gets a unique number.  This number can be seen on the cashbook screen and is also the receipt number.  This new report now lists all transactions within the specified date range in transaction number order.
